Cue LOADS of people not getting said replacement card and not being able to get in for the Watford game.

The TO could not be anymore incompetent if they tried, how did they not realise this before?

Re: Away fans entrance
We entered in entrance E to get to our seats but had to walk through the Bournemouth Concourse to get there.

I was amazed that we were allowed to do this. They had stewards/security at the gates who weren't really doing much but surely this will change for the bigger games?

Still can't believe it kicked-off with fucking Bournemouth!... BOURNEMOUTH!

Dunno how it happened. Were they giving it and then they got a slap?!

I did PML for the first game and just a handful using it. Shuttering and building works going on all over. It could potentially be a problem due to its seclusion having said that it is far from finished and when it is I don't see a problem as long as it's policed.

That is the main issue for me, the stadium and surrounds are massive compared with UP with 3/4 stations for access rather than one meaning fans can arrive from all corners, this is ok to take the extra fans which is all good but you also need a much bigger police force to police the whole area simultaneously especially for the bigger supported teams.

Re: Away fans entrance
Fans of other clubs said they were intimidated getting off the tubes at Upton Park and being forced down narrow roads with houses either side, particularly at night.

Coming from Hackney Wick on a lovely sunny day walking down lonely roads with factories with car parks and along the canal I suddenly imagined that walk on a dark and cold winters night would be like.

Loads of places to plot up for an ambush and I wonder who the first football fan who gets smashed into the canal will be?

Policing fans who come from the Wick and presumably Pudding Mill Station (not done that walk yet) and as someone else mentioned, the Sewerbank is going to be a fucking nightmare once the nights start drawing in.

Re: Away fans entrance
Following feedback the Club has received from our Founders regarding season access cards and gaining entry to the ground, immediate action has been taken to ensure all supporters are able to enter the stadium safely and efficiently.

Supporters sitting in Block 216 or 217,should only be entering the ground at Turnstile C. From now on your access card will only work at Turnstile C.

Supporters sitting in Blocks 221-228 should only be entering the ground at Turnstile E. From now on your access card will only work at Turnstile E.

To avoid any confusion, you will be issued with a new access card before the Watford game stating the correct turnstile.

Your original access card will be deactivated and should be destroyed upon receipt of your new access card.

I sat in 247 on Sunday, just above the gaps and the 'standing singers', and I could pick up on all the songs and joined in. Wasn't a problem to me. Mind you, I'm only 47, my hearing isn't going just yet.

I walked away from West Ham when they tried to force the Bond scheme on us, eventually went back in 2004ish. Can't go to that many games, living in Derbyshire and working abroad a lot, maybe a quarter of games, but I don't see the OS stopping me going again.

As it stands..things will kick off with the usual suspects..

Re: Away fans entrance
Course not. Never has been, even over UP with a third of that there.

Things might change a bit, but not much. WHU attract a certain type, which is why it's considered a family club.

I gave up going in my teens for a few years when it went all seater. I didn't want to sit at football, nor pay extra to do so. Things moved on without me and I finally went back and enjoyed the years you grew up to.

I'll be shocked if you never go to the OS, but fair play if you stick to your principles, even if I don't really get it.

Re: Away fans entrance
The gap between the lower and upper definitely don't help with the atmosphere. Songs don't get picked up as easily.

And I wouldn't say the fanbase shit, but the majority of that 60,000 just aren't going to be on their feet making a racket. Just won't happen...

Re: Away fans entrance
The gaps are shit, but mean fuck all as the people in front are closer. We could have not bothered with retractable seats and stuck with the running track gap instead like plenty of other clubs that carry on regardless in athletic stadia.

If you think our fanbase is too shit to bother with then fair enough. Fair weather attitude.

BulphanIron 1:39 Tue Aug 23
Re: Away fans entrance
Both....

It's just a makeshift gaff IMO, the gap between the upper and lower is horredous.

The gap between the lower and the pitch is nearly as bad...

People seem to think 60,000 bods will guarantee an atmosphere, but truth is most aren't fussed, and even the club have blocked another TBL type atmosphere forming by not allowing STHs being the goal down that end.

It doesn't matter in Europe as the supports are actually half organised on the whole and can muster an atmosphere wherever they play.

This ground just won't work for us.

And that's without bringing in the gentrification of the club in general...

Re: Away fans entrance
They played at the olympico in turin for the rest though.

Hertha have played at their gaff for decades too.

There is a trend of clubs going to more modern grounds and as clubs don't build athletics stadiums it is more suitable, yeah. They still utilise them all over europe though when viable.

I'm struggling here to workout your motives for bombing ot the OS, is it structure or just atmos? As we have only been there 3 games!

BulphanIron 1:23 Tue Aug 23
Re: Away fans entrance
Juve only played at the Stadio delle Alpi for 20 years tbf...

Shit atmosphere and shit crowds forced the move through to their new gaff which is stunning!

:^) 1:16 Tue Aug 23
Re: Away fans entrance
Clubs like Juve you mean, who were perfectly fine there for about 80 years before building a newer ground that didn't need a running track...

Yeah, good point.

BulphanIron 1:10 Tue Aug 23
Re: Away fans entrance
And the current trend seems to be for clubs to leave their athletics grounds and move to more suitable gaffs. We've bucked that trend.

Won't hold my breath on the atmosphere, the club don't want it and most of the 60,000 are happy to sit and spectate.

Which is fine, pay your money do what you want.

:^) 1:06 Tue Aug 23
Re: Away fans entrance
I ain't comparing anything but grounds, Bulph. Plenty of athletics grounds dotted about europe.

If the OS starts getting lively I presume you'll be back sharpish then. Fair enough....

Re: Away fans entrance
So the Olympico is fine for Roma/Lazio and being close to the pitch doesn't matter to them?

Righto.

So it aint about the ground it's about our fans then...

So you're honestly comparing the Curva Nord / Curva Sud and the atmosphere they create with the OS where bods get grassed up for standing??

Fair play bulph. At least you had the bollocks to follow your (strange) convictions and pack it in unlike some people 👀

Re: Away fans entrance
Bulphan, snap out of it. The stadium doesn't have to be shit. It's only souless if there are no souls there.

Sounds like they need you down there more than they did at Upton Park. get over there and raise the bar, then, instead of turning your back on the team just because we've changed stadium again.
